Shepard’s dorm, which he shares with fellow sophomore wide receiver Durron Neal, is a two-bedroom suite with a small kitchen — already equipped with a refrigerator — and a common area separating the bedrooms. Over the course of 35 years, certain parts of the dorm had become dirty, especially the bathrooms.



Shepard’s bathroom in Wilkinson House was in a situation in which he needed shower shoes to make sure he didn’t get any of the shower fungus on his feet.



Now in a brand new dorm with a brand new, clean bathroom, Shepard will not need the shower shoes, he said. That doesn’t mean he will stop wearing them simply because wearing them have become part of his shower habit, but he may stop, he said.



Otherwise, having his own bathroom in a dorm, which isn’t the norm at OU, allows for Shepard, and everyone with their own bathroom, to have time and privacy to get ready.



“If we’re about to go out, I can get in my shower, (Neal) can get in his,” Shepard said.
