Red Wing Shoes to open a store



One of the country’s best known providers of work shoes and industrial footwear is coming to Clifton Park this fall.



The Red Wing Shoe Company will open a store in Clifton Park Center, 22 Clifton Common Road in September. The store will have an industrial work-themed atmosphere with leather chairs, brick walls, and a state of the art sound system. It will be located on the east side of the center next to the Hilton Garden Inn.



The company will feature the latest in Red Wing work products including purpose-built footwear from its Red Wind brands as well as products from the company’s WORX and Irish Setter lines,Find the Michael Kors New Arrival you will want to use for-ever! and its Heritage collection.



Red Wing Shoes is a privately held corporation established in Red Wing, Minn. in 1905. It features work safety footwear and flame resistant apparel.



“Before the company decides where to locate a new store we do quite a bit of research on potential regions and towns,” said the company’s Director of Interactive Marketing Kimberly Balega. “When we were looking at Clifton Park we found that the demographics of the town made it a prime location for a store. We are very excited about bringing a Red Wing Store to an area where we know we have both a loyal customer base and the opportunity to introduce new customers to the quality of the Red Wing brand.”



Balega said the location was chosen with customer needs in mind. Convenience, spacious parking and visibility were all at the top of the list.

Called Sensori and Sensori Cloud, both products are a modern upgrade of the tire sandals worn by the Tarahumara Indians of Mexico.



Both products give wearers the fun and freedom of being barefoot, but with a layer of protection and a fashion-forward design that looks as good during a run or a yoga class as it does in a New York City night spot.

Product designer, and former head of global product design for Crocs, Dennis Driscoll says, "We were able to analyze over 4,000 foot tracings from our customers to create the perfect ergonomic shape for our new products." Analysis revealed that most sandal companies place the toe post in wrong location.



While the Sensori is a performance-friendly product, the designs -- including Core Colors with colored accents, Marbled Madness with camo and other "patchwork" colors, and translucent rubber -- are attractive enough for fashion wear.



The Sensori Cloud adds a thin layer of cushioning in the forefoot area, for those who want an extra-comfortable sandal that allows for total natural, barefoot-style, movement.



Both products are slated for release shortly. A number of patents are pending for Xero Shoes products.
