Will makeup for men last?

Designer and director Tom Ford is extending his cosmetic collections to include something for the gents as well.

Ford and his star guests including Colin Firth and Leonard Lauder, headed to Mark's club in Mayfair, for the big reveal of the upcoming luxury skincare line.

"I've been living in London since 1997, so I've seen it all. But I do agree that the men's collections here are stronger this season than ever seen before so, yes, there may well be something to get excited about after all," he told Women's Wear Daily.

Launching in the northern autumn, Tom Ford for Men will include "nine multifunctional skin-care and grooming products, including a face cleanser, moisturizer, eye treatment,Find great deals on hotmkbags for michael kors wallet Michael Kors Hamilton Bags in "Women's Clothing, Handbags and Purses". Ford isn't the first designer to venture in to the world of makeup for men. Earlier this year Marc Jacobs teamed with Sephora to create a range of unisex beauty loot.

At the time of the expansion, Jacobs explained to Huffington Post: "I like the transformative qualities of fashion and fashion to me is not just clothing, it's handbags, it's shoes,The Michael Kors Wallets blends fashion and function, providing a great stylish way to carry around your MacBook Pro. it's clothes, it's hair, it's makeup, it's fragrance, it's the whole ritual of making those choices, of enjoying the ritual, of making the choices that will tell the world who you want to be that day."

Meanwhile, a recent survey of 1000 men in the US and UK conducted by JWT (a marketing communications company), found that guys are feeling increasing pressure to make themselves look beautiful.

The study, entitled "The State of Men," took a peek at what products men are turning to most.

Then found that just over half of the men were using skincare products, 39 per cent were using lip balm, 33 per cent had hair removal treatments at home and 29 per cent treated themselves to manicure goodies.

Clothing and purchase orders from Spanish retailers Mango and El Corte Inglés were found in the rubble of Rana Plaza, and a Spaniard was registered as the factory's director-general. The man, identified by Bangladeshi police as David Mayor, is under investigation and believed to be hiding in Spain.

Rana Plaza was not the first deadly incident. In January, a fire killed at least seven workers at another Bangladeshi factory making clothes for Zara's parent company, .

In May, Spanish companies and others like the Swedish-owned H&M — the largest buyer of clothes made in Bangladesh — unprecedented fire and building safety agreements for their factories there.

But the sheer magnitude of the Rana Plaza disaster means worker safety in Bangladesh is no longer only a matter for lawyers, unions and bereaved families. It's now on the radar of shoppers on European thoroughfares like Gran Via.

Owner Corry Cavell-Taylor is offering a $1,000 reward for information which leads to the conviction of those responsible.

He said: “The break in was devastating for the staff and I’m not sure how many more times the business can survive something like this.

“Commer-cially it has had a big impact because we have lost our sales stock which can’t be replaced and each time this happens our insurance costs go up.

“It is so upsetting for all of us.Choosing a killer ensemble and Michael Kors Jet Set Bags each day should never be a cause of stress. Rutland is such a beautiful county and it’s a shame we are being targeted in this way.”

Three intruders were captured on CCTV breaking into the Mill Street premises at just after midnight on Tuesday. The footage shows they spent two hours creating a hole in the wall to get into the building.

The alarms went off at 2.45am.

Security staff were on the scene within 10 minutes but the thieves had already fled.

Handbags and designer jeans were taken from the shop in November and again between Christmas and the new year.

Mr Cavell-Taylor said: “The break-ins all look too similar for them not to be linked. We believe it is the same gang who have targeted us each time.

“We have tripled the level of security at the shop since then but they have still managed to find a way in. It’s so infuriating.”

One shortfall EBay is seeking to fill is a lack of home- grown content in emerging markets. Consumers outside the U.S. are used to to sub-par experiences because offshoots of U.S. sites tend to be badly translated, sporadically updated and prone to showing out-of-date merchandise.

Products displayed on such pages are often tailored to U.S. customer interests – a football game on the display of a flat- screen television, for instance. This can turn off users and ruin brand trust, said Chuck Whiteman, senior vice president at MotionPoint Corp., which works with U.S. retailers to help them improve their international sites.

“It’s the world wide web — it’s a global consumer,” Whiteman said in an interview. “As soon as that consumer decides they’re in an experience that isn’t the best that company has to offer, they abandon it.”

What's Behind The BrandZ Top 100 Ranking And Seemingly Unbeatable Apple [wholesale jeans]

What's Behind The BrandZ Top 100 Ranking And Seemingly Unbeatable Apple

Strong brands impact much more than revenues and profit margins: They can drive competitive advantage, command a price premium and bolster a company’s resilience to crises. The intense competition among the most valuable brands in some of the categories in the 2013 Millward Brown Optimor BrandZ Top 100 ranking – released today – affirms the impact a brand’s strength has on its value, with the fiercest battles won by those that combine solid financial performance with great brand equity.

In personal care, L’Oreal leapfrogged Gillette and Colgate with a 30% rise in value to become the most valuable brand in this category– all three are worth between $17 and $18 billion, so competition was tight. L’Oreal successfully introduced new, higher-performing products to tempt customers away from private label, including “cosmeceuticals,” which combine cosmetic and medical benefits to appeal to consumers’ desire for products that multitask. The brand continues to be a leader in research and innovation, creating high quality products that give it an attractive product portfolio, which is customized to the local market.

Gillette continued to target younger men in an effort to convert new, life-long customers, and received one of the highest scores among all personal care brands for Brand Contribution – a measure of brand equity based on customer sentiment. Meanwhile, Colgate’s healthy brand value growth of 15% was not quite enough for it to maintain its number two spot. Despite an intensely competitive environment, and already having a high global penetration, Colgate increased its market share over the last year, and its brand strength was a facilitator of that growth.

The battle for the top is also driving change in the car sector. Toyota has overtaken BMW to regain its position as the world’s most valuable car brand, increasing its value 12% to $24 billion, after its strong brand helped it recover from a number of product recalls in 2009 and 2010. It has a value proposition that people really want, offering luxury features on an affordable, environmentally conscious car.

With a significant value increase of 60% in the last year, Zara now stands in front of Nike as the most valuable apparel brand. Fast fashion is in, and the Spanish brand has consistently delivered, while expanding its business to children,Welcome to Michael Kors Handbags Outlet online now. men and even home decor.

It’s long been expected that online brands will eventually gain supremacy over their brick-and-mortar rivals, and Amazon’s beating of Walmart to become the most valuable retail brand – worth $46 billion, a growth of 34% – may suggest this is happening. As well as having a compelling, consistently-executed promise, Amazon makes itself available wherever customers are – even establishing a brick-and-mortar presence with its Amazon lockers, self-service delivery locations allowing customers to collect parcels ordered online. Walmart delivers well, too, and has grown its value 5% to $36 billion, but in China, a strategic market, its performance is challenged by the fact that consumers prefer to buy from local markets and shops. Regardless of whether they started as online or brick-and-mortar businesses, retail brands can no longer rely solely on their core channels to market their products, and the most valuable brands in coming years will be those that recognize they need to be present at all possible touchpoints in consumers’ lives.

There are insurgent brands in a number of categories that have the potential to catch up with the leaders in the next few years.

So how can brands become the most valuable brand in their category – and then widen the gap between themselves and the competitors nipping at their heels? Out-advertising everybody else like Samsung will only bring a short-term boost to value. The brands that have risen furthest in the Top 100 all score significantly higher than average on the BrandZ equity measures of Meaningful, Different and Salient.

This means they provide a superior brand experience; creating value that sets them apart from the competition. Apple is the archetypal “meaningfully different” brand. There is clarity about what their brand stands for – positioning, message and values – with a value proposition that’s communicated powerfully and consistently. All of the top risers have a distinctive brand personality, which is more likely to generate passion and create brand advocates.

Continuing to renew the brand is essential to remain in contention over a number of years, and the most valuable brands are exceptional at staying relevant to customers. IBM’s reinvention as a greater-margin consultancy which drives a “Smarter Planet” is a good example of this.

Nearly Three Months Later, Austin Still Adjusting to Plastic Bag Ban [wholesale jeans]

Nearly Three Months Later, Austin Still Adjusting to Plastic Bag Ban

Though Austin’s ban on plastic bags took effect March 1, the conversation about how consumers are coping is still going strong.

Austinites have been sounding off on social media about the benefits and inconveniences of banning plastic bags. One particularly in-depth conflict has erupted on an Austin Reddit thread, asking “How has Austin’s bag ban affected you?”

Numerous Redditors shared their views on how the ban has impacted their lives.Buy Michael Kors Handbags from our Michael Kors outlet Store, the best place to get discount Michael Kors sale. Here’s a look at some of the most common themes that emerged:

Shopping has become more efficient: The inconvenience of bags has prompted shoppers to begin planning their trips more in advance so that their purchases don’t get out of hand. “I now pre-emptively decline a bag and only purchase what I can comfortably carry in my hands,” Redditor nelsnelson writes. “This means that my meals are rarely made up of more than a literal handful of ingredients. It has made everything simpler.”

Plastic bags were convenient in the household: Many Austinites adapted to utilizing excess plastic bags in the household - those places where reusable bags just won't cut it. "“You obviously don't have to deal with poop,” argues Redditor austex_mike, “I need plastic bags for diapers.” User nuovo_donna is also struggling with life without free plastic bags: “I'm almost out of little liner bags for all of my wastebaskets, and I'll have to start buying plastic bags soon."

People are doing shopping outside city limits: People who live on the edges of Austin prefer not to deal with the inconvenience. Instead, suburb-dwellers find themselves making a large amount of purchases at stores beyond the city limits. Aforementioned user austex_mike concedes, “I'll be honest. Nothing beats the convenience of just using old grocery bags. I live in north Austin, so I just swing over to the Greenlawn HEB in Round Rock every now and then and do a big shopping trip.”

Some are calling for more measures: Those in favor of a full environmental makeover for the city of Austin think this is a step in the right direction. Redditor prophetjohn writes, “Pretty sure in the early stages, this is going to be a net negative. My hope is that it will promote a more reusable mindset that propagates beyond just plastic bags.”

Complaints to cashiers are off the charts: “Worst part is that they take it out on me,” former HEB employee and Reddit user Hyperdude reports. Current cashier Terramoura agrees: “In my opinion, if you are angry about the ban, you should complain to the city. I like the ban. Plastic is such a nuisance. I'm sorry it's inconvenient to you but change happens and if you can't adapt, then life will only be hard for you.”

At 269 comments as of this writing, the list goes much further. Leave a comment below and continue the conversation: how has Austin’s bag ban affected you?

Vertical stripes will elongate your figure which can be flattering for petite women. Avoid clothing types with large prints although small prints are a creative way of adding style and color to any look. Wear V shapes or U shaped necklines in tops and shirts that will elongate your neck which works best for a petite woman and these necklines styles also aid in creating the illusion of height.

Getting tight fitting clothes is a standard style rule for petite women who are always trying to avoid feeling like their figure is swamped out by their clothes. Avoid garments that have a lot of design ease because all that extra fabric adds bulk and make you look heavier.

If you want to wear a belt, match them to your outfit and keep belts slim. Wide or contrasting belt will cut your figure in half and break up the vertical illusion that we want to achieve to look longer and slim.

Guns shows aim for a wider clientele [wholesale jeans]

Guns shows aim for a wider clientele

Vera Torres went to the Nation’s Gun Show in Chantilly last month looking for a handgun. She left with Amazing Wonder Tops.

She found the impossible-to-wrinkle blouses at a table that also featured Native American necklaces, not far from a jeweler selling $7,500 timepieces, across from a table of high-powered rifles, around the corner from herbal aromatherapy heating pads and .45-caliber handguns and a pop-up DVD store whose categories included “WWII at Sea” and “Napoleonic.”

Gun shows have long peddled gun-related goods alongside the weapons on display — ammunition, holsters, sights, targets, cleaning supplies. But in the past decade or so, as the number of gun shows has ballooned to more than 5,000 a year and the number of people attending them has soared to an estimated 25 million to 30 million, the weekend events have become traveling malls.

Entrepreneurs target first-time shoppers not ready to pull the trigger on a gun, bored wives, families on Sunday outings, and men with guilty consciences in need of bling. A sign at one jewelry stand in Chantilly offered a reminder: “Mother’s Day is May 12.”

Gun shows have been attracting record crowds — the result of background checks and other gun-control measures being considered by Congress. But even before the debate in Washington, business at many big gun shows was already strong, helped along by the efforts to cater to those less interested in weapons and more interested in camouflage onesies, beef jerky and Amazing Wonder Tops.

“You can dress them up or dress them down,” Arnold Roberson, the dealer selling the blouses, told Torres. “Put it in a suitcase and then put it on and look like a million bucks.”

Torres didn’t need a sales pitch. She had purchased the garments — $15 each or two for $25 — in black, purple, blue and red the previous day . She liked them so much — truly a miracle! — that she came back the next day to buy “every other color.”

Some gun-show purists aren’t thrilled with the flea market atmosphere. The Tulsa Arms Show, one of the country’s biggest events, posted this warning recently to its vendors: “Absolutely No toys, no candy, no food items of any kind, no survival food, no snacks, no food storage or tupperware, no drinks, no nutritional items, no handbags, no makeup, no scentsy, no hair products or accessories, no candles, no wickless candles.”

The Nation’s Gun Show doesn’t have such restrictions. Last month, among the more than 1,000 tables at the show, Russell Guthrie had several tables of watches, rings, bracelets and copper coins, including a $3,000 Rolex and a $7,500 Cartier Santos pocket watch.

“I don’t have any cheap stuff,” Guthrie said. “Everything goes. There’s something out there for everyone.”

Gun shows are often portrayed by gun-control advocates as dangerous places where dangerous people arm themselves for dangerous encounters. The reality, gun-show regulars and observers say, is far different.

“Gun shows are a social event,” said Joan Burbick, the author of “Gun Show Nation: Gun Culture and American Democracy.” ‘‘They have become a real scene. It’s not just a place to just go buy a gun anymore.”

Or as Pete Lamb, the owner of food merchant Jerky Pete, put it: “People think we’re just a bunch of rednecks with weapons and ammo, and we want to blow stuff up.That’s just not true. This is an organized business.”

In Chantilly, Michelle Brewster was wandering the aisles with her five children,The Michael Kors outlet will provide you cheap but high-quality products. ages 4 to 11, while her husband was, well, somewhere at the show not with them.

“My husband comes for the guns,” said Brewster, who lives in Fauquier County, “and we come for the jewelry and the coins.”

“This is a family Sunday out,” she said. “It’s fun.”Steven Davison, an Arlington plastic surgeon, was looking at another table of jewelry with his daughter Sophia, 10. His wife had wanted him to take one of their kids with him.

“My son didn’t want to come,” Davison said. “My daughter did after I told her there would be jewelry.”Sophia said, “I also wanted to make him happy, and it sounded like fun.”

She had $25 in “walking-around money” burning up her pocket, but hadn’t figured out what to spend it on yet.Her dad bought a shotgun.

A few aisles away, Rick Audino, a North Carolina art dealer, had a corner booth where he was selling $2,000 paintings of Civil War scenes by John Paul Strain. He’d sold more than a dozen. Many of his buyers at shows in the Washington area — “the only place in the country left with money,” he said — are government contractors or federal law enforcement officials, or occasionally a CIA officer.

They come looking for new holsters or other gear, but often leave with a painting instead. Audino does not have a gallery. He has gun shows.

“If you have a gallery, you are waiting for people to come to you,” he said. “This way, we bring it to them. People say, ‘Oh, I didn’t expect that here.’ Then they go, ‘Oh, I like that.’ Then they buy it.”

At the Annapolis Gun Show last month, Henry Sobel stopped by because he was thinking of buying his first shotgun. Instead, he was nibbling on beef jerky.

The beef jerky at gun shows — a staple like Auntie Anne’s pretzels at the mall food court — is often so delectable that people drop by just to pick up a pound.

“I’ll give you pepper first,” said Trish Holsinger, the co-proprietor of Holsinger’s Meats & Deli, which was across from a table of high-powered rifles and a not-so-small cache of ammunition. “It’s black pepper. It’s subtle. The red pepper is not subtle. It’s slap-your-face hot.”

Sobel tried the slap in the face. His assessment: “Whoa.”

Sobel, an Annapolis OB-GYN, did not leave with the hot stuff, or a shotgun. He did leave the show — his first — with $21 worth of beef jerky and a dried pig ear for his dog Killian, who was celebrating his fifth birthday.

“It’s a real grin to leave a gun show with beef jerky,” he said. “My wife is very opposed to guns and she wasn’t thrilled with me coming to a gun show. But now I’m coming home with all these treats for everyone, so it’s a win-win.”

Trish and her husband, Bob Holsinger, are part of a multi-generation meat business operating near Hagerstown. They have been selling at gun shows for about two years. Trish and Bob’s father were not convinced there was a market at gun events, but now they do about 10 percent of their business at shows.

“When he first said ‘gun shows’ to me, I gave him a look like, ‘What?’?” Trish said. Now the Holsingers often sell more 200 pounds at a show, at $18 a pound. Their company does more than 100 shows a year.

“He was right,” Trish said, “and I was wrong.”A man was standing at their table holding a shotgun from the 1800s. He was sampling several varieties of jerky.Asked his name, the man said,Choosing a killer ensemble and Michael Kors Wallets each day should never be a cause of stress. “Tom.” Asked his last name, Tom said, “Why?”Asked whether he liked the idea of beef jerky at gun shows, Tom said, “If it wasn’t for the guns, I wouldn’t have any jerky.”
